Spring is the perfect time to sign up for one of our Residential Programs!
This is probably the question I get asked the most. Well... a long, long time ago I used to be a resident manager for an apartment block. I went through both bed bugs and cockroaches in my unit. I'll never forget how living with those pests made me feel! Or how people treated me when they found out I had them.
The pest control technician who was looking after my building was a woman and I thought that was just the coolest thing. Years later I saw the place where she worked was hiring; I applied and so began my obsession with pest control!
I approach every customer with care and compassion. Maybe that's because I'm a woman...maybe it's because I'm a mom or because I know how upsetting it can be to have something decide it wants to live in your home. And while I'm totally comfortable being around all these creepy crawlies - I know you probably aren't! I'm never going to belittle your feelings or make you feel like you're overreacting.
When I realized that this was more than a job to me, I knew it was time to start my own business. I've put my heart into this business and my business depends on you, the customer! So, I put my heart into every job I do. My passion has always been in educating my customers on the how and why of their pest problems. Together we can come up with permanent solutions or ongoing programs to mitigate the risks to your property.
As my business began to grow, I realized that I could no longer serve my customers on my own! I needed to expand. It was at this moment that I realized I could use my company to attract and retain more women and gender diverse folks into this heavily male dominated industry. I started my career working at a company that had a lot of female technicians, but the overall culture of the company was still causing the male and female techs to have different experiences. Currently only 6% of the pest management industry are women and based on industry reports 0% of the industry self-identify as trans/non-binary.
At Valkyrie Pest Solutions we are committed to attracting women and gender diverse folks into this industry and providing them with a safe and equitable workplace. We emphasize the importance of work-life balance. We acknowledge that everyone works differently, and that diversity can only make us stronger and more valuable.
We currently have a bit of a role reversal to every other company - since you'll get a man on the phone when you call the office and women at your door to do your service!
